Texans to Share Views, Speak Out on No Child Left Behind
On Thursday, January 12, 2006, the Austin Voices for Children and Youth in Austin, TX is sponsoring a hearing on No Child Left Behind (NCLB), the sweeping legislation that has touched every public school and every public school student in America. At the hearing, the voices of those students will be heard. Young people from schools across Pennsylvania will reflect on the impact of NCLB on their schools, their lives, and the way they learn. A select number of parents and community members also will participate.
The Austin hearing is one in a series of ten public hearings that will be sponsored by PEN with state and regional partners, and will be held throughout the country between now and Winter 2006. The results of these hearings, in addition to testimony provided through an online survey will be published and distributed to key federal, state, and local decision makers, education leaders, and the media , and will include suggested changes and improvements to this far-reaching law.
