Give Kids Good Schools Campaign
Undergraduate Student Intern
Public Education Network (PEN) is a national organization of local education funds (LEFs) and individuals working to improve public schools and build citizen support for quality public education in low-income communities across the nation. The Give Kids Good Schools campaign PEN project that was launched in August 2006. The goal of the campaign is to build a constituency of Americans who will use their voices and their votes to ensure a quality public education for every child. The platform of the campaign is Give Kids Good Schools Week which will culminate the week of October 15-22, 2007. That week, Americans will be involved in activities that support quality public education.
PEN is currently seeking a student intern working towards a degree in communications and/or public administration with an emphasis in public education. Responsibilities will include research, writing, phone calling, updating and manipulating grids and charts and drafting and merging letters. The intern can look forward to the following:

1. |
Work collaboratively with campaign associate and technical assistance team to gauge PEN membership level of interest in the campaign. |

2. |
Create and develop Give Kids Good Schools MeetUp.com events and work w/LEF staff to solicit local corporate partners for these events. |

3. |
Update all grids as it relates to corporate and non-profit outreach. |
|
4. |
Provide funding research to campaign manager or senior vice president |
|
5. |
Perform writing assignments needed. |
|
6. |
Help campaign associate with web-site maintenance, development and messaging. |
|
7. |
Attend relevant meetings. |
The internship is unpaid, but credit towards the degree could be negotiated.
