Early indicators/ early interventions: Keeping Middle Grades Students on Track to Graduation
Focusing on recent research examining six graders in urban high poverty schools, this webinar will introduce significant findings as well as programs and interventions that are addressing drop out prevention. Dr. Bob Balfanz, researcher at the Center for Social Organization of Schools at Johns Hopkins University, will co-present his findings with leaders from the Philadelphia Education Fund (the study's lead partner) and provide insights into other aspects of the drop out rate nationwide.

Learn more about the impact of community engagement practices and how this work has had a positive impact on low-income communities of color, specifically those with black and Latino students.

This is a professional development opportunity for LEF executive directors and their board members. Participants will join a faculty of LEF directors, nonprofit experts, and exemplary leaders of school reform to strengthen leadership capacity and set standards for leadership and performance.

PEN’s Annual Conference, 25th Anniversary of LEFs (San Francisco, CA)
Held every other year, PEN’s 2008 Annual Conference will honor and celebrate 25 years of local education funds in the city where they began: San Francisco. LEF members and many others will come together to recognize the historic contributions of LEFs to education reform, and to look to the future of the field.
