National Campaign Manager

Public Education Network (PEN) is a national nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of local education funds (LEFs) and individuals working to improve public schools and build citizen support for quality public education in low-income communities across the nation. PEN seeks a dynamic, articulate and motivated Manager to work 25 hours/week to manage Give Kids Good Schools, a national campaign to build an informed and motivated public that will work to ensure that all America’s children receive a quality public education. The Manager works with all of PEN’s divisions and reports to the Senior Vice President.
The Manager has primary responsibility for daily activities of PEN’s five-year national public engagement campaign. Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President, the Manager will exercise professional judgment to:
Cultivate and coordinate relationships with campaign partner organizations.
Develop close working relations with PEN members (LEFs) and other grassroots organizations participating in the campaign and provide support as they need it.
Provide internal clearinghouse function among the PEN staff, partners and consultants in developing, delivering and retrieving information and materials needed to implement the campaign
Prepare informational materials for the campaign.
Plan and manage campaign events.
Work with our webmaster to keep the campaign website www.givekidsgoodschools.org current.
Manage the campaign website e-mail traffic.
Produce and distribute weekly campaign updates for LEFs; biweekly e-alerts for GKGS constituents, and monthly updates for partners.
Work closely with Development to support campaign funding initiatives.
Track campaign expenses and provide monthly report to Senior Vice President.
Assist Senior Vice President on other campaign duties as assigned.
Occasional Travel Required.
Background, Knowledge and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in liberal arts, communications, marketing or education.
Minimum of five years of progressively more responsible experience in nonprofit communications/public relations, marketing, or program areas.
Social marketing and/or public education campaign experience strongly recommended.
Experience working with state and local stakeholders and national organization partners.
Excellent understanding of technology and working knowledge of web marketing.
Experience in report and proposal writing and making presentations to external audiences.
Experience in grassroots organizing and/or constituency-building an asset.
Knowledge of and interest in public education a plus.
