Public Agenda

Public Agenda provides technical support for public engagement efforts through workshops, research, community conversations (forums), focus groups, and opinion surveys. Like National Issues Forums and Study Circles, community conversations are facilitated discussions generally built around a set of options or "choices" designed to promote the formation of a shared public judgment through the process of "deliberation" (weighing the pros and cons of each).

Public Agenda's approach to public engagement emphasizes:

Extensive outreach to make sure that activities include people who do not hold leadership positions and whose voices are not commonly heard

Discussions geared to average citizens instead of just experts

A civil exchange of ideas among participants without grandstanding or polemics

Tolerance for people with different points of view
